Andrew Adolph

Head of Tax Division

My name is Andrew Adolph and I am a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA).

I was hired straight out of accounting school in 1990 by Revenue Canada who were looking for people to be auditors of the new goods and services tax (GST) the government was proposing. Luckily for me, the GST was successfully enacted on Jan. 1, 1991.

I was an auditor for 24 years. While doing my job, I met hundreds of small businesspeople, NPOs and Charities. They were frustrated, not just with CRA, but also with the accounting industry, especially when it relates to GST or PST. At the same time, 25 years of cranking out 20 audits a year while having 10 going at any one time was enough for me. While, it is unusual for someone to leave the safety of a good-paying government job, I had a good idea where I could fill a need.

Today I help businesses to not pay any more in sales taxes than the law says they must. My role is to advocate for you if you are being audited, so you can focus on your business. Unfortunately, auditors don’t look out for your interests when their job rating depends on their audit results. Sometimes they ask for far too much information, or weeks go by without them calling you, and you wonder what to do. My job is to keep you informed and ensure your rights are respected.
